High Performance EMC Filter for Solar Inverters
Roxburgh EMC have designed a high voltage, high performance 3 phase emc filter for use with high kW solar inverters.
Our engineers were asked by a world leading manufacturer of solar inverters to design a 690V 400A low earth leakage emc filter to work in high ambient temperatures (65°C) and to comply with the latest UL standards – a challenging design given the high ambient temperature and performance requirements associated with high power switching circuitry within DC-AC converters.
Two EMC standards needed to be met; FCC part 15 Class A and EN61000-6-4 – for both the USA and Europe respectively, these standards are widely adopted globally.
The KMF3420V is the result of this collaboration utilising high performance, high quality components. Compliance with the upgraded UL1283 standard to 1000V was achieved in this compact design using a number of innovative new layout ideas.
With renewable energy now providing approx. 18% of global electricity generation and continuing to grow in line with the need to reduce CO2 emissions, these new emc filters will have applications not only in solar, but all renewables where large power inverters are utilised and operate in high ambient temperatures.
